Raison d'être (our why)
Our menstrual cycles have a huge impact on our day to day experience.
Cyclical hormonal shifts and the emotional, mental and physical changes that they bring can affect our levels of creativity, concentration, patience, clarity and cognition.
Not to mention our energy, sleep, libido and digestion.
When we don't understand how our unique cycle affects us, we can feel like we are at the mercy of our hormones.
We can be taken by surprise, month after month, by our own thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
When we pay attention to our cycles, we can see the patterns.
And the experiences that confused or overwhelmed us become insights that we can anticipate, understand, accept and harness.
When we know ourselves more deeply, we can better care for ourselves and those we love.
We can prioritise cyclical rest.
To make sure we have the energy we need to create, play and take action on the things that are important to us.
This is why we're creating the menstrual cycle clock.
To make it easier to be aware of our cycles, to visualise the phases, and to notice our own unique patterns.
Whether on wall or a shelf, a daily glance at the menstrual cycle clock is a moment of connection with ourselves.
Like checking the weather to know if we need a jacket or umbrella.
Our menstrual cycle clock can indicate if we might want more rest, more activity, more alone time or more connection.
And at least allow us some self compassion if we can't get what we need that day.
The menstrual cycle clock also connects us with our partners, families and those we share a home with.
Communicating meaning without words.
And reconnecting us to our cyclic nature.
